Yesterday, the Palms Spring Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America, on a roll call vote, unanimously voted to change our name to the Coachella Valley Chapter of the Military Officers Assoication or CVC-MOAA.
The Board of Directors believed that the name Coachella Valley Chapter -MOAA was much more inclusive to our members and potential members. Points that we considered included issues like the chapter does not conduct business in Palm Springs, our roster indicates that no member at this time resides in Palm Springs, our administrative base is on the east side of the Valley, and our chapter services ALL communities in the Coachella Valley.
MOAA national has been contacted and is supportive of the name change. The Board has approved an action plan to include notifying our membership, national MOAA, CalMOAA, California Secretary of State, California Franchise Board and the IRS; sending out a media release; updating our by-laws, webpage, financial accounts, logo and letterhead; and finally re-issuing name tags to members.
I personally want to thank W02 Tony Ferrara, BOD Secretary, for all his detailed work and due diligence in assisting the Board of Directors in voting approval of this momentous decision. His development of the current roadmap to the name change will ensure our success. Thank you, Tony.
