• Born in Los Angeles, CA - April 1939.
• 1961 - Commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant, Armor, US Army, through the ROTC program
at California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, CA. Entered Active-Duty
September 1961. Married to Jeannine Adams in Friedberg GE in 1962.
• Promotions & Key Assignments:
o CPT – 1965.
o 1965-67 Commanded an Armored Cavalry Troop in the 11th Armored Cavalry
Regiment starting at Ft Meade, MD then in August 1966 deploying the Troop to
Vietnam with the Regiment. Two Purple Hearts & a Silver Star.
o MAJ – 1969.
o 1970 – 2nd tour to Vietnam. Served as S3 of the 1st Squadron 1 Cavalry, Americal
Division, then served as an Assistant G3 at Americal Division headquarters.
o LTC – 1977.
o 1975-78 Served in the Combat Developments Experimentation Command, Ft Ord,
CA. Ended up as the Secretary of the General Staff (SGS).
o 1978-80 Commanded the 2nd Battalion 64th Armor, 3rd Brigade, 3d Infantry Division
(Mechanized), Schweinfurt, GE.
o 1981-83 Served as the G3 of the 5th Infantry Division (Mechanized), Ft Polk (now Ft
Johnson), LA.
o COL – 1983.
o 1983-86 Served as the Chief of Division Tactics and subsequently Director of the
Department of Tactics and the Center for Army Tactics at the US Army Command
and General Staff College, Ft Leavenworth, KS.
• Military Education: Command and General Staff College – 1974-75, National War
College – 1980-81.
• 1989 – Retired.
